The grocery store. Everyone has to go. Most of the time you don't want to. Or it's just because you forgot the key ingredient. There may be many reasons that you go to the grocery store, but the stories that you have when you get home are usually pretty entertaining. Hence, the creation of this blog.
Today I went to the grocery store in search of white queso chip dip and met three characters along the way. The first appeared in the chip isle. He was this guy in his late twenties. He was DEF not my type and I was DEF not his, to make this description short. Although he (and his mother, whom he probably lived with) had already made it down the chip isle once (per the items in their cart) he turned around and followed me down the isle approx. two feet behind me. I don't know about you dear reader, but that is personally WAY to close. Needless to say I quickly grabbed the reason I came to the store in the first place and a bag of scoops chips and hightailed it out of that isle. The second character was the cashier. The first thing I look at when I approach a cashier is their name. Don't ask me why I do it, but I do. This man's name was definitely not one I had seen before. I greeted the man and after the first initial greetings, I had NO clue what he was saying. By the time I got my mind focused, I noticed that he had an extremely thick Scottish accent. It was totally one of those laugh/smile/shake your head up and down moments, you know to make the other person think that you know what they are saying, but you really have NO idea. All I got out of the conversation was "my kids like that cereal" (oh yeah I bought fruity pebbles too) to which I responded "Yeah me too". And as I was leaving he said "enjoy the cereal". I wish I'd had more time to actually pay attention to what he was saying, because his accent did sound really cool. The third character I came across was a hunched over, adorable, old man. I wasn't expecting him to say anything to me, so when he said "hello" all I could come up with was "heylo". Hmmm that's a new one, I must say though it could be the next greeting added to the Webster's Dictionary. So to the old man at the grocery store, "thanks for the new word." And that is what happened...
